Enzymedica, from Florida since 1998

Enzymedica was founded in Florida in 1998 to offer enzyme-based supplements. The brand uses its own process, called Thera-blend, which puts several variants of each main enzyme in the same formula, and states that it uses plant-based enzymes.

The Digest line is in the Digestive Support category: Digest Gold with ATPro in packs of 45, 90 and 120 capsules, Digest Spectrum in 30 and 90 capsules and Digest Basic with probiotics. Candidase Extra Strength is in the same category.

Digest with probiotics and MucoStop are in Fibers, Probiotics and Enzymes.

How to choose an Enzymedica product

Enzyme supplements are compared on the enzymes they contain and their activity, which the label states in units, for example HUT for proteases or DU for amylase, not in milligrams. The Digest versions differ in the number and amount of enzymes; those with probiotics add microorganisms, with the amount stated in CFU. Compare products on the grams of each ingredient per serving, not on the weight of the pack, and always follow the daily dose stated on the label: a supplement is no substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
